About

Florian Trykowski, photographer (based in germany)

About me – and why it’s named “Nordic Music Photography”:

I’m regularly travelling to Iceland since I was fourteen – and I still can´t get enough of exploring this country and meeting the friendly and open-minded locals.

But it was not until I stumbled into Reykjavík Culture Night in 2009 that I discovered music as my new passion. The energy and vibe of icelandic bands and solo artists, who played the streets and squares of Reykjavík until the early hours impressed and hooked me deeply.

Of course, I had to visit the Iceland Airwaves festival soon afterwards, and of course I brought my camera…and there it all started! So this music-photography counterpart to my other job as advertising / commercial photographer was named “Nordic Music Photography”, and it grew up fast.

Music photography became a very important and close-to-heart part of my professional work, personal friendships with (mostly icelandic) bands have developed, and I managed to expand to german and european festivals: I shot the icelandic showcase at Eurosonic festival Groningen (NL) for Iceland music export IMX, I’m working as official photographer and PR/social media crew member at Maifeld Derby festival, Feuertanz festival, Burg Abenberg festival, Taubertal festival, Reeperbahn festival, Iceland Airwaves festival, Bergfestival, Burning Beach festival…

There’s a lot of ideas and I’m trying to hit even more photographer pits and stages year by year – stay tuned!

As Death Cab for Cutie sings: “there are roads left in both of our shoes” – you’re dearly invited to accompany me on my way through the music scene and to share my passion for icelandic music and loads of festivals throughout europe.

And if you’re running a festival / band / agency or whatever, and if you’re interested in my photography – just give me a shout, grab a beer and let’s talk about work.
